Create a vector signature in Adobe Illustrator

These are the original signature scans. I used elements from both of them in the vector signature seen below.

To create this vector signature, I did the following:
1) scanned sheet of paper with a number of signatures on it – David selected the two he liked best.
2) imported the two chosen signatures into Adobe Illustrator
3) traced elements of the signatures with the pen tool, then merged them together
4) finally, I brought the signature into Adobe Photoshop, added a drop shadow and saved it as a jpeg.

Vector signatures are great for personalizing emails, websites and much more.

Photo Manipulation: Chapel at St. Anthony’s Cemetery

This is a small chapel – I think – at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery on West Nyack Road in Nanuet, New York. I took three exposures of this scene, as I was intending to create a HDR image. Instead, I decided to do something a little different. To make the above image, I did the following: traced around the chapel rocks to isolate the chapel; turned background into black & white and applied water color filter; finally, I applied the posterize filter to the chapel.

WTF?! Did they think they were in a boat?

A couple knuckleheads thought they could drive their sedans through waist-high waters on Route 59 in West Nyack by the Palisades Mall. Really?

Custom WordPress Web Design

I recently designed a website for a luxury bed and breakfast in Poland. The site was created in WordPress and customized using the Headway theme. Click here to check it out.

How to make a frame using just a corner piece

I recently worked on a graphic design project for a fine art publishing company. The main part of the job was laying-out 2 custom sales books, but there was a good amount of photo retouching/manipulation involved as well. One of the things I did was make a whole frame from the corner sample seen below in the original photo. To do this, first I had to silhouette (or cut-out) the corner sample using Photoshop’s Pen Tool; then I had to duplicate and alter the corner to create 3 other needed corners for complete frame; next, I used Photoshop’s Clone Stamp to fill in any missing areas; lastly, I dropped in the artwork, created simulated matting (with border around image and off-white mat color) and color-corrected the frame.
